Rhetorical figures are the perfect union between communication and creativity. They are tools that allow you to deepen concepts by transposing them, in an almost provocative way, from simple words to real sensations. After the reinterpretation of the oxymoron of 2021, today the creative trio of Atelier Labor Limae decides to explore the rhetorical figure of allegory through a new collective project. Allegory is a rhetorical figure of thought, which derives from the Greek allon “other” and agoreuo “I say”, literally “to say differently”. It is used to convey abstract concepts through images that are both concrete and allusive at the same time. The allegory needs an alternative interpretation to its apparent meaning, an interpretation that is sometimes unique and strictly personal. This is precisely the key with which the allegory is told in three individual projects developed respectively by Amalgàma Jewels by Giorgia Tasca, Rita Martinez Art Jewelry and Valeria Rossini Jewelry.

The Chimera is a terrible and fascinating creature, part lion, part goat and part snake; it is said that she was endowed with human intelligence and that she had a poisonous bite and jaws that exhaled fire. This fantastic beast is today the paradigm of delirium, dazzle, mirage, it represents utopia, bizarre, illusory and sometimes dangerous dreams like her. Being chimeric, however, also means being a thinker who uses madness to feed ingenuity, who has the ability to handle the incredible to form something new and unexpected, someone who lives through a freedom of thought free from the need to distinguish between what is real and what is true. This collection is the composition of unexpected unions; fruits of a fearless exploration amidst dazzles and mirages.

I wanted to reinterpret the well-known triad of Dante’s fairs beyond the simple allegorical correlation to the three deadly sins. I chose to convey a message of hope and give light to that Jungian demonic shadow, generally dormant or unconsciously reflected in others, but rarely present in the conscience of individuals. So I accompanied the allegorical image of the fairs (inner demons) with flowers as representative of rebirth, of spring, of a conscious explosion of one’s own inner conflict resulting in a happy balancing of two opposite presences.

Synthesis is an allegory that represents evasion. In a historical moment like the one we are going through, in which travel and exploration of the new have become not only inadvisable but even a danger, the desire to escape and move is stronger than ever. The jewels of the Sintesi collection represent exactly this, a set of elements collected over time that assembled together become nostalgic landscapes in both an evocative and visual sense.
