Elisa Confortini creates these “matter-bodies” by observing and imagining nature (Imago Naturae) but at the same time distorts the language to disorient the observer. It is a continuous search for the point of no return which lies in the limit between pure abstraction, the informal and material search for the very essence of materials and in the countless forms of nature. Elisa alchemically mixes all these ingredients with “zen” wisdom, removing the superfluous until arriving at a Gestalt of extreme balance, cleanliness and essentiality. Even the color is used with great sobriety, it is the same materials and their natural color that is formed with the high temperature of 1300 degrees, the sporadic chromatic contributions that Elisa uses for her works, in addition to the ceramic decalcomania and the immaculate white of porcelain.
